2** « One of the appellation’s benchmark wines which garners a Judges’ Favourite accolade again with its Maldoror label, a tribute to the famous book by Isidore Ducasse, otherwise known as Lautréamont. The 2011 thus joins its illustrious predecessors from 2003, 2001, 1998 and 1995. Jean-Yves Bechet sets aside 12 hectares of vineyards for his flagship wine made from Merlot (75%) and Cabernet-Sauvignon grown organically and, since 2010, biodynamically. The result is remarkable: Ruby-red hue with dark purple tints; complex bouquet of red and black fruits, violet, pepper, liquorice and cedar; the palate is honest, full and powerful yet shows no harshness whatsoever, coated with round, silky tannins that leave a sensation of great harmony on the finish. A wine of noble extract, cellar for the next three to five years. »
Guide des vins en biodynamie p.81 – Évelyne MALNIC – 2013
3*** « A very savoury offering. Sporting an intense garnet-red hue with purple tints, this wine reveals a fairly shy yet already intense nose intermixing aromas of black fruits, a touch of violet, fern and a trace of roasted coffee. A full, powerful attack heralds a delicious, fleshy, well-structured palate laden with black fruits supported by dense, tightly-wound tannins. Wonderful balance. A reliable choice »

« Lovely spicy, upright character with a firm, striking tannin grain. A finely aged, likeable wine with a very strong personality. »
Jean-Christophe ESTEVE – May 2012
Score 17-17,50/100 « Crimson with black. Very cassis, blackberry and raspberry nose that is resinous, fairly violent and powerful. Round, supple, easy-drinking and fleshy palate. Wonderful attack then firm tannins to support body. Shows the vibrancy of organic wine. Enjoyable and well-made. »
